Staffing and recruiting  ·  3 min read

Lists of customer needs differ by who wrote them. For a staffing client, five cover almost everything. Confidence that who shows up is who they asked for. Speed. A fair price. Being easy to work with. And honesty when something goes wrong. The first one outranks the other four. A client will pay more and wait longer for an agency they do not have to check.

Clients count the honest version. So should you.
1Staffing and recruiting

The five, for a staffing client

1. Confidence. The person at the gate has the card, knows the shift, and is the one described in the submittal. This is the need clients rank highest and talk about least, because it is hard to put on a scorecard. It is the whole reason they use an agency.

2. Speed. Someone Monday who was not there Friday. Speed matters, but a fast fill that falls off in week one is not speed. It is two fills.

3. A fair price. The markup is fine if it buys the first four needs. It is too high the moment the client has to check your work.

4. Ease. One contact. A written order they can correct in one reply. Submittals they can decide from in a paragraph. Invoices that match the quote.

5. Honesty. Bad news first, from you, with the fix attached. Clients forgive a no-show they heard about Sunday night. They do not forgive one they discovered Monday morning.

Why confidence comes first

Ask a client why they left their last agency. Almost nobody says "too slow" or "too expensive." They say "the wrong person showed up" or "I had to check everything they sent." The other four needs are what a client notices when the first one is met. When it is not, nothing else counts.

How to meet the first need

It is not a feeling. It is three habits.

  • Take the order in writing and send it back.
  • Check every submittal against it before it goes.
  • Confirm every start the night before, with what to bring and where to be.

Do those for three orders in a row and the client stops checking. That is what confidence looks like from their side.

How M-Tracker helps

Where M-Tracker fits

Confidence is built by checking your own work before the client has to. M-Tracker reads each submittal and confirmation against the client's order before it goes out, with a plain-words note on what matches and what is missing. A client report, sent as a link they open without an account, shows what was delivered. The first need, met every time.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Are these the same five for every business?

No. Lists for retail or software look different. These five are what staffing clients say when you ask.

How do I measure confidence?

Count first submittals accepted and placements that stick past week one, per client. When those are high, confidence is high.

Which need should a new agency focus on?

The first. Speed and price can be tuned later. Confidence is the reason you get the next order.
