Two ways to use it

A status report in the order the reader needs: at risk, I need, done, nextAT RISKFAQ page, 3 days behind. If screenshots arrive by Tuesday we hold June3; if not, slips a week.I NEEDOne message from you to product, by Monday.DONECustomer email approved · handout sent · help article updatedNEXTSend email Friday · start FAQ · train supportA busy reader getsthis far.So the two things theymust act on go first.Done and next are proof, not news.

Write it from my notes. Paste whatever you have: bullet points, a task list, a Slack thread. You get a report in the right order, plus a short list of things worth fixing, like a risk with no date or a delay that sounds softer than it is.

Fill in four boxes. Done, next, at risk, I need. The report builds itself as you type, and you can copy it for email or Slack. Nothing leaves your browser.

Why this order

Readers skim. They want to know two things fast: is anything on fire, and do you need something from them? So the report puts Needs your help and At risk at the top. Done and Next come after, as proof.

If nothing is at risk and you need nothing, the report says so in one line. That is the best report there is.

Example

Needs your help: please ask product for the final screenshots by Monday.

At risk: FAQ page, 3 days behind. If screenshots arrive by Tuesday we hold June 3; if not, it slips a week.

Done: customer email approved; pricing handout sent to sales.

Next: send the email Friday; start the FAQ page.

Project status reports

The same order works for a project report to leadership or a client. Say who the reader is and the generator adjusts the wording. For client reports, see the monthly client report template.

How M-Tracker helps

Where M-Tracker fits

In M-Tracker the "done" list comes from your tasks, so you only write the risks and the ask. Managers see finished work, time and goal links for the team without a Friday survey, and daily reports can go out by email on their own.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is it free?

Yes. The four-box mode is unlimited. The notes mode is 5 a day with no account. Nothing is stored.

Will it hide bad news?

No. It is told never to soften a delay your notes describe, and it flags vague wording.

Can I use it for a monthly report?

Yes. Paste the month's notes and say it is a monthly report.
