What makes a good OKR

  • The objective is a direction. Short, clear, worth caring about. No number needed.
  • Key results are outcomes, not tasks. "Finish setup rate from 41% to 60%" is a key result. "Launch new onboarding emails" is a task.
  • Each key result has a starting point and a target. Without the starting point you cannot see progress.
  • Three is enough. More than four and nobody remembers them.

The generator never invents a baseline or a target. If you did not give one, it leaves a placeholder for you to fill in.
