The network can see which sites and apps your phone connects to, when, and how much data moves. It cannot read what is inside encrypted pages or messages, which today is almost everything. If the phone is company-owned or enrolled in company device management, they can see much more. The simple fix for personal browsing: switch to mobile data.

On work Wi-Fi: which sites and apps connect. Not what is inside encrypted pages.

What the network sees

  • The name and address of your device.
  • The sites and services it connects to, by domain name.
  • When, how often and how much data.
  • Nothing inside encrypted connections, which is nearly all websites and messaging apps now.

So they can know you opened a job site at 2 p.m. They cannot read the listing.

What changes if the phone is managed

If the company gave you the phone, or you enrolled your own in its device management to get work email, it can see and control more: installed apps, location on company phones, and the ability to wipe work data. Check Settings for a management profile.

The habit that settles it

Personal things on mobile data. Work things on work Wi-Fi. It costs nothing and removes every doubt.

Why employers look at Wi-Fi logs

Mostly for security: blocking malware, finding leaks. Rarely to catch someone scrolling. If a manager is reading Wi-Fi logs to judge productivity, they are using the wrong tool for the question.

How M-Tracker helps

Where M-Tracker fits

The question a manager actually wants answered is whether the work is getting done well. Wi-Fi logs will never tell them. M-Tracker does: each task has a brief, the finished work is checked against it, and the manager sees what was produced and accepted. No network logs, no screenshots, no activity monitoring. The work, not the traffic.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can they read my texts on work Wi-Fi?

Not through the Wi-Fi. Messaging apps are encrypted. A managed phone is a different story.

Can they see my photos?

No. Photos do not pass through the network unless you upload them, and then only the destination is visible.

Is a guest network different?

Usually less logged, but still the company's network. Mobile data is the clean answer.
