Productivity and measurement  ·  2 min read

There is no single official list. The version most people mean is purpose, priorities, plan and persistence. Know why the work matters, pick what matters most, decide when it happens, and keep going when the day fights back. Business writers use other P's, like people, process and performance, for a whole company.

1Productivity and measurement

The four, for one person

Purpose. What is this work for? A task with no purpose gets done last and badly.

Priorities. Of everything that could be done, what must be? Usually one or two things a day.

Plan. When, exactly, will it happen? A task without a time slot is a hope.

Persistence. The day will interrupt you. Come back to the plan instead of starting a new one.

2Productivity and measurement

The four, for a team

For a team the same words mean something slightly different. Purpose is the goal each task connects to. Priorities are set once, by the manager, not re-argued daily. The plan is the week's list, sized to the hours the team really has. Persistence is finishing what was started before adding new work.

Why purpose comes first

Teams that skip purpose stay busy. Every request looks equal, so everything gets done a little, and nothing gets done well. When every task names the goal it serves, the ones that serve none stand out, and they can be deleted without guilt.

How M-Tracker helps

Where M-Tracker fits

In M-Tracker, each task's brief names the goal and key result it supports, so purpose is written down, not assumed. Projects link to objectives too. When the work is sent, the review checks it against the brief. The goal view shows which work moved a result this week and which was just busy. Purpose, made visible.

Questions people ask

Are the four P's a formal method?

No. It is a memory aid. Use it as a checklist, not a system.

Which P do teams most often miss?

Plan. Everyone knows the priority. Nobody put it on the calendar.
