How to import Jira issues into M-Tracker

Connect Jira from the M-Tracker web app and import the issues assigned to you as tasks with timers, goal links, and reviews. Sync any time. About 3 minutes.

Bring the Jira issues assigned to you into M-Tracker as tasks. Each one gets a timer, can be linked to a goal, and gets a review when you mark it done. Press Sync whenever you want new issues. About three minutes to set up.

What gets imported

  • Issues assigned to you.
  • In the Backlog or To Do status.
  • From the Jira site you connect.

Issues already imported are not duplicated. If you edited an imported task in M-Tracker, your edits are kept when you sync.

Steps

  1. Open Integrations. In the M-Tracker web app, open the Integrations menu.
  2. Choose Jira, then Connect. You are sent to Atlassian to sign in and allow M-Tracker to read your issues. Allow it.
  3. You return to M-Tracker. The import starts. Your assigned Backlog and To Do issues appear as tasks.
  4. Link tasks to goals. Open an imported task and pick the objective it supports, if you use goals.
  5. Sync later. Open Integrations and press Sync on the Jira row to bring in new issues.

Working with imported tasks

  • Start the timer on a task as you would any other.
  • Add the finished work and press Get instant review when it is done.
  • The task keeps a reference to the Jira issue so you know where it came from.
4Integration

What does not happen

  • Nothing is written back to Jira. Marking a task done in M-Tracker does not move the Jira ticket. Import is one way.
  • Issues in other statuses, or assigned to other people, are not imported.
  • Disconnecting removes only the import connection. Imported tasks stay. If you also use the Jira review panel, that connection is separate and stays too.

Common questions

I do not see some issues. Check they are assigned to you and in Backlog or To Do. Press Sync.

Can I import a whole project? Not yet. Import is per person, based on assignment.

Can my team see my imported tasks? Your manager sees your tasks the same way they see any task you create.

Before a large import

If you are moving a lot of work, the free Jira CSV import readiness checker can read a sample export and show which fields map cleanly. It is useful for planning even though the live import uses the connection, not a CSV.
