What every creative brief needs

  • The goal. "Get 300 sign-ups for the June 12 webinar" beats "promote the webinar."
  • The audience. Who, and what they care about. "New customers from the last 90 days."
  • The one message. If they remember one thing, what is it?
  • Must include and must not. The date, the button, the logo. No pricing, no unreleased features.
  • Dates and the approver. When the draft is due, when the final is due, and who says yes.

Design brief or creative brief?

A creative brief is about the message. A design brief adds the practical details: sizes, formats, brand rules, and examples you like or dislike. Pick Design brief in the tool and those fields appear.

Why briefs save time

Most work that comes back missed something the requester knew but never wrote down. Ten minutes on the brief saves days of revisions. Our rework cost calculator shows what those rounds cost.
