A strong recruiter sends the right candidate the first time. Not the most calls. Not the most resumes. They read the job order closely, ask the client what would make the hire a mistake, and check every submittal against the order before it goes out. Clients trust them because they almost never have to send work back.
It is not call volume
Most desks measure activity. Calls made. Resumes sent. Emails out. Those numbers go up when people work harder. They do not go up when people work right.
Picture two recruiters. One makes 112 calls a week and sends ten candidates per order. The client interviews one of them. The other makes 40 calls and sends two candidates. The client hires one of them. The second recruiter is the strong one. The client's time was not wasted, and the order closed.
Three things strong recruiters do
1. They read the order like a contract. Every must-have on the job order becomes a box to check. Forklift card, current. Nights. Start Monday. If the order does not say, they ask before they search.
2. They ask one more question at intake. "What would make this hire a mistake?" The answer is usually the thing the client forgot to write down. It saves days of sourcing in the wrong direction.
3. They check before they send. The first candidate a client sees sets the bar. A strong recruiter reads their own submittal against the order one last time. Is every must-have answered, in writing, in the first few lines?
How to spot one on your desk
You do not need a long review to find your strong recruiters. Look at three things.
- How often the client accepts the first submittal.
- How often a submittal comes back with "this is not what we asked for."
- How often their placements show up on day one and are still there in week two.
A recruiter who scores well on those three can carry more orders, because their work does not come back.
How a good recruiter becomes a strong one
Nobody is born reading job orders properly. People learn it by sending a submittal, hearing what was missing, and fixing it, many times. The faster that feedback comes, the faster they learn. If the feedback arrives at a monthly numbers review, the same mistake has already gone out twenty times.
The best managers give feedback on the submittal itself, the same day. "You said she has the certification, but the order asks for a current card. Add the date." Ten seconds to say. One habit fixed.
Where M-Tracker fits
In M-Tracker, the job order is the brief and the submittal is the work. A recruiter attaches the submittal and gets a plain-words note on what matches the order and what is missing, before a manager or client sees it. Strong recruiters get that feedback on every submittal, not once a month.

Questions people ask
Is a strong recruiter the same as a top biller?
Usually, over time. Top billers keep clients because their work does not come back. Short-term billing can come from volume. Long-term billing comes from being right the first time.
Can a quiet person be a strong recruiter?
Yes. Listening well on an intake call matters more than talking well. Many of the best recruiters are quiet people who write very clear submittals.
What is the fastest way to improve a recruiter?
Review their next five submittals against the order with them, the same day each one goes out. Point at the line that is missing. Most people fix it by the third one.
