How to install the M-Tracker Jira review panel

Step-by-step: a Jira admin installs the app and allows projects, each person connects their M-Tracker account, and reviews appear in the issue panel. About 10 minutes.

Two parts. A Jira admin does the first once. Each person does the second once. About ten minutes in total.

1Integration

Before you start

  • You need Jira Cloud. The panel does not run on Jira Server or Data Center.
  • The admin needs an M-Tracker account with a verified email. If your company has an M-Tracker organisation, the admin should be an organisation administrator.
  • Each person who wants reviews needs their own M-Tracker account. A 14-day free trial is enough to start.
2Integration

Part 1: The Jira admin installs and connects (5 minutes)

  1. Install the app. Open the M-Tracker listing on the Atlassian Marketplace and choose Install.
  2. Open the settings page. In Jira, go to Apps → M-Tracker settings.
  3. Connect an M-Tracker account. Choose Connect. A new tab opens in M-Tracker. Sign in if asked. Confirm the connection.
  4. Choose a workspace. Pick your personal workspace, or the organisation you administer. People in an organisation installation must be members of that organisation to use the panel.
  5. Allow projects. Tick the Jira projects where reviews should be available. You can change this later.
  6. Enable reviews. Switch reviews on. Return to Jira and refresh.

Part 2: Each person connects their account (2 minutes)

  1. Open any issue in an allowed project.
  2. Find the M-Tracker panel on the issue. Choose Connect.
  3. Confirm in M-Tracker. A tab opens. Sign in to your own M-Tracker account. Confirm.
  4. Return to Jira and refresh. The panel is ready.

Each person connects their own account. This is what keeps reviews private and credits correct.

Part 3: Get your first review (1 minute)

  1. On a finished issue, open the M-Tracker panel.
  2. Add the finished work. Paste text, drop a file, pick an existing Jira attachment, or paste a public Google Docs, Drive, or Dropbox link. If the finished work is already in the issue description, tick Use completed work from the issue description.
  3. Press Get instant review. The button says it uses one credit.
  4. Read the paragraph. Fix the work. Press Review again if you want a second look (one more credit).

The review is saved privately for you on that issue. Re-opening it later is free.

If something does not work

  • "Open a connection link from the M-Tracker panel in Jira." You opened the M-Tracker connect page directly. Go back to Jira and press Connect in the panel.
  • Panel not visible. Check that the admin allowed this project and enabled reviews. Refresh the issue.
  • Link rejected. The document is private or the link is to a web page rather than a file. Make the file public, or attach it to the issue instead.
  • File too large or wrong type. Files must be 5 MB or less and one of PNG, JPEG, PDF, TXT, Markdown, CSV, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX.
  • Out of credits. Ask your team lead or organisation admin to allocate credits, or upgrade your plan.

Removing the app

Uninstalling from Jira disables the installation, unlinks accounts, and refunds any reviews that were still waiting. Saved reviews are kept in M-Tracker.
