Staffing and recruiting  ·  4 min read

You stop trusting the resume and start trusting evidence. AI has made every resume read well, so the writing tells you nothing. The screen is where your recruiter adds the truth. Three questions cut through: what did a normal Tuesday look like, what number did you move and how do you know, and what went wrong and what did you do? Then put the evidence, not the claims, in the submittal.

Smooth is not the same as right. That is true of resumes too.

What AI polish looks like

Every bullet starts with a strong verb. Every role "drove," "spearheaded" or "owned" something. The numbers are round. The skills section matches the job posting word for word. The profile reads like the job description, because it was written from it.

None of that means the person is lying. It means the resume cannot tell you anything anymore. The information has to come from somewhere else.

2Staffing and recruiting

Question one: a normal Tuesday

"Walk me through a normal Tuesday in that role." People who did the job answer with small, boring details: the 8 a.m. check, the system that was always slow, the person they handed work to. People who did not give you the resume back, in sentences.

Question two: the number, and how you know

"Your resume says you cut processing time by 30 percent. What was it before, what was it after, and how did you measure it?" Real work has a before and an after and a way of knowing. Polished work has a percentage.

4Staffing and recruiting

Question three: what went wrong

"Tell me about something that went wrong in that role and what you did." Real experience includes failure. Someone who has only ever "exceeded" and "delivered" either has not done much or is not telling you.

Put the evidence in the submittal, not the claims

The client has read a hundred polished resumes too. What they cannot get from the resume is the truth your recruiter heard on the phone. So the submittal leads with it.

Not: "Experienced warehouse lead with proven track record."

Instead: "Ran a 12-person night crew for two years. Describes the daily cycle count and the two inventory misses he caught. Forklift card renewed March 2026, seen on camera."

That is the submittal the client cannot get anywhere else. It is the reason to use an agency.

For recruiters who are short on time

You do not need twenty questions. Three, asked on every screen, and the answers written into three lines of the submittal. It adds five minutes per candidate and takes the guesswork off the client's desk.

How M-Tracker helps

Where M-Tracker fits

A submittal full of claims and a submittal full of evidence look similar at a glance. M-Tracker reads each one against the order before the client sees it and points out, in plain words, which must-haves are backed by evidence and which are just asserted. The recruiter goes back to the candidate for the missing number instead of hoping the client does not ask.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Should I reject resumes that are clearly AI-written?

No. Judge the person on the screen, not the resume on the polish. Plenty of good candidates use AI to write badly-needed resumes.

What if the candidate cannot answer the Tuesday question?

Ask it about a different role. If they cannot answer it about any role, that tells you what you need to know.

Can AI help me screen?

It can sort by keywords. It cannot hear a hesitation. Use it for the pile, not for the truth.
