Sales teams love activity goals because they are easy to count: calls made, emails sent, demos booked. But activity is not a result. These OKRs aim at qualified pipeline, win rate and deal speed, with the work behind each.
How to read these examples
Each OKR has an objective in plain words, key results with a start and a target, and the first tasks. The numbers are examples. Measure your own starting point before you set a target.
Example 1: We build a pipeline we can rely on
Objective: We build a pipeline we can rely on.
Key results by the end of the quarter:
- Qualified pipeline created, from $400k to $650k a quarter
- Pipeline from our target segment (agencies of 10 to 50), from 35% to 60%
First tasks:
- Define what qualified means, in writing, with marketing
- Build a list of 200 agencies that match the target
- Run two webinars for agency owners
Example 2: We win more of the deals we work
Objective: We win more of the deals we work.
Key results by the end of the quarter:
- Win rate on qualified deals, from 18% to 26%
- Deals lost to no decision, from 45% to 30%
First tasks:
- Review the last 20 lost deals and list why
- Write a one-page mutual plan for every deal over $10k
- Add a pricing call with a manager for stalled deals
Example 3: Deals close faster
Objective: Deals close faster.
Key results by the end of the quarter:
- Median days from first call to close, from 62 to 45
- Deals with a next step booked, from 55% to 90%
First tasks:
- End every call by booking the next step
- Send a short recap within an hour of every call
- Flag deals with no activity in 10 days
Mistakes to avoid
- Calls and emails as KRs. They measure effort, not progress. Keep them as leading signals, not goals.
- Revenue as the only KR. It shows up too late to change course. Add pipeline and win rate, which move earlier.
- Setting and forgetting. Check each key result every week, in five minutes, with a goal check-in.

Connect the goal to the work
Sales work happens in many small steps. When tasks like "send the mutual plan" link to the win-rate KR, the team can see which habits are actually done, and which deals are quietly stalling. M-Tracker links tasks and projects to objectives and key results, so you can see each week how much of the team's time goes to the goal. No screenshots and no activity tracking.

Questions people ask
How many OKRs should one team have?
One to three objectives, each with two to four key results.
Should OKRs be tied to bonuses?
Most teams keep them separate. Tying them to pay makes people set safe goals.
What if we miss?
Scoring 0.7 on a stretch goal is a good quarter. Look at what you learned, and set the next one.
Work you can trust, without redoing it.
Your team gets feedback before work reaches you, or your client.
