Project timeline generator
Describe the project, the dates and the team. Get a timeline with phases, milestones and a buffer.
How to use it
- Say what the project is in a sentence or two.
- Give the start date and the deadline.
- List who is on the team, by role.
- Press Make my timeline. You get the phases and milestones, plus a full draft you can copy into your plan.
Read it and change anything that does not fit. You know your team better than any tool.
What a good timeline has
- Phases. Plan, make, review, launch. Each one has a start and an end.
- Milestones. Points where something is finished and checked, like "design approved."
- Owners. One name per phase. "The team" is not an owner.
- Review time. Every handover needs time for feedback and fixes. This is the part most timelines leave out.
- A buffer. About 10% to 20% of the time, kept at the end, not hidden inside tasks.
Why timelines slip
Projects rarely slip because the work is slow. They slip because work waits. It waits for a decision, for feedback, or for a second round of fixes when the first try missed the brief.
So the best thing you can do for a timeline is make each handover clear. Say what done looks like at each milestone. Our task brief builder helps.
Where M-Tracker fits
M-Tracker puts each phase's tasks on one board with clear briefs, checks finished work before it reaches the reviewer, and shows when a milestone is at risk. No screenshots and no activity tracking.
